چکیده
SINCE contact lenses have been used for monocular conditions of impaired vision in which the eye is divergent, e.g., aphakia and corneal scars, it has been found that although vision could be improved the affected eye remained divergent. Some of these eyes, i.e. those with small degrees of divergence, attained single binocular vision with orthoptic treatment; others with larger angles had to be helped surgically. Introduction The extra-ocular (EO) muscles control movement of the eyes and are pathologically involved in conditions including thyroid eye disease [1] and progressive external ophthalmoplegia (PEO) arising from mitochondrial diseases [2]. Pathologies such as inflammation and atrophy of these muscles are routinely investigated on clinical MRI using techniques that suppress potentially confoundi...

THE earliest sign in progressive muscular dystrophy of involvement of the extraocular muscles is usually a bilateral ptosis which is followed by slowly progressing immobility of the eyes. The central nervous system as well as the skeletal muscles may be affected. Furthermore, heart disorders have been reported. At present, the disorder is attributed to progressive dystrophy of the extra-ocular ...

The location of the rectus and oblique muscles and the retractor bulbi muscle is described. متن کاملProgressive Muscular Dystrophy of the Extra-ocular Muscles in a Negro.
ABOUT 150 cases of progressive muscular dystrophy involving the extra-ocular muscles have so far been recorded in the literature. As far as can be ascertained, this condition has never been described in a Negro. The myopathies are characterized by a primary dystrophy of voluntary muscle.
